In 2018, Midwives of New Jersey had 388 total births. We had 58 total cesareans giving a total cesarean rate of 14.9%. Our primary cesarean rate was 12.2%. 110 (28.7%) of the 383 clients who planned to deliver vaginally labored in the tub. 38 (16.03%) of our patients who planned to deliver vaginally required an induction. 49 (15%) of our patients who planned to deliver vaginally required an epidural for pain management. 49/236 (20.7%) of our clients required an epidural. 92 (23.7%) of all births occurred out of home. 18 (16.3%) of the 92 clients attempting an out of home birth were transferred to the hospital. Of the 47 clients who attempted labor after cesarean, 35 (74.4%) had a successful VBAC.
