In 2019, Midwives of New Jersey had 372 total births. We had 42 total cesareans giving a total cesarean rate of 11.3%. 95 (28.7%) of the 372 clients who planned to deliver vaginally labored in the tub. 106 (28%) of our patients who planned to deliver vaginally required an induction. 75 (20.4%) of our patients who planned to deliver vaginally required an epidural for pain management. 112 (33%) of all births occurred out of home. 16 (14.3%) of the 112 clients attempting an out of home birth were transferred to the hospital. Of the 42 clients who attempted labor after cesarean, 27 (64.3%) had a successful VBAC.
