It is a blessing to be doing what you really love as a profession. To me, it is a blessing to be a midwife, supporting women as they transform throughout their lives.
Being a midwife is being with women as they do amazing things. Pregnancy, labor, birth and motherhood are amazing. It is an honor to be invited to join a woman as she becomes a mother. But, just being a strong, healthy woman is an amazing task.
I am an advocate for each woman in her particular circumstance. I have faith in the normal processes of our bodies and the strength each woman inherently possesses to accomplish whatever challenge lies before her. I focus especially on educating women about their bodies and how best to care for them at each visit. I rely on evidence-based recommendations to inform each question so each woman can make the decision that is right for her.
I felt the call to become a midwife after the birth of my first child. I had been a nurse on a mother-baby unit at a hospital for a few years and enjoyed helping women immediately after birth. After my own birth with a midwife at a birth center, I saw how my job could be more rewarding by making more lasting connections with women across their lifetime. I am delighted to have been experiencing these rich connections with women as a part of the Midwives of New Jersey since 2014. Within our practice we really help women achieve the things they hope for within their pregnancy, labor and birth.
