If you come down with a cold don’t worry; the symptoms of a cold or the flu are usually harmless to your baby. You may find that your cold lasts a little longer than usual; this is because your immune system is likely to change during pregnancy. While it’s always best to avoid a cold altogether (see our Anti-Flu Recipe), following are some natural treatments you can employ.
Things to Try:
- Increase fluids (water, juice, and broth) and rest
- Vitamin C Supplement 1000 mg/day
- Echinacea 2-3 capsules, 2-3 times per day
- For congestion, place a humidifier in your room and keep head elevated while sleeping
Call your healthcare provider if your symptoms persist or if a fever over 100.4 develops.
