Our Birthing Center opened 2018 in Morristown, less than 5 minutes from Morristown Medical Center. The environment is beautiful and spa-like with many comforts of home and more. Things like:
- Queen-sized beds
- Kitchen and family room
- Comfortable furniture
- Soaking tubs
- Large showers with unlimited hot water
- Sound system
The instruments, the medications and supplies are stored unobtrusively throughout the birth center, all within easy reach when needed. The birth center staffs a nurse to assist the Midwives before, during and after our births. Snacks and drinks are supplied for women and their families.
A distinct advantage to choosing Our Birthing Center is a higher likelihood of a waterbirth when compared with Homebirth and Hospital birth. When a woman is having a homebirth, she is often so hormonally-correct, that her labor is almost “too fast”. Her tub is not always set up or filled before the baby comes out. With a hospital birth, the admission process must be completed before the tub can be accessed. The woman’s trip to the birth center usually gives the Midwife time to arrive at Our Birthing Center and start filling the tub. The birth center has tremendous water pressure and so the tubs fill quickly. If a woman arrives at the Birth Center at the end of her labor, a quick check of the fetal heart rate and a cervical exam is usually all that is necessary before she climbs into the tub for her birth. If a couple really wants a waterbirth, the Midwives of New Jersey recommend the birth center.
