Instructors: Midwife Assistants
Labor Rehearsal is an active, hands-on childbirth preparation course that is taught in both our Madison and Mount Olive offices by a rotating schedule of Midwife Assistants. They will teach you how moving into different positions and using breathing techniques can make labor pain much more tolerable.
Our MAs have learned through experience that simple tricks can help you access your hindbrain for birth. They will show your partner massage techniques, counter pressure, and hip squeezes. Partners will also learn examples of helpful coaching language and how to recognize the beginning of a contraction. Labor Rehearsal will help you with strategies to stay at home longer so that you get to your place of birth in active labor. At the end of class everyone will be able to put these new labor skills to use during a few practice contractions which mimic labor.
Our MAs, Ashley Cuccaro, Malia Englehardt, Heather Jorgensen, Reba Kadamus, Coralyn Kurz, Donna Scales, and Rebecca Stein, teach in pairs and look forward to getting to know you during this interactive class, since one of them may be assisting on the day you have your baby!
This 2-hour class is incredibly helpful, whether it’s your first or your 4th pregnancy. Cost: $100 per couple.
