Elizabeth has a BS in Biology and Society from Cornell University. In the last few years since shifting careers into doula work, she has had the honor of supporting hundreds of clients at all stages of their reproductive journey.
Elizabeth first encountered the Midwives of NJ as a birth doula supporting clients under their care at the birth center. Witnessing their beautiful approach to maternal care, was a breath of fresh air and made her immediately want to be a part of their movement.
As a full spectrum doula and childbirth educator, she knew her next direction in her birth work pathway would be in the world of midwifery.
Personally, Elizabeth has always had the utmost respect for “parteras” (Midwives), being born and raised in Colombian culture where they have always played a significant role. She is a mama to four children, whom she birthed in the most natural way channeling her ancestral birthing power. She aspires to start a traditional midwifery program in the near future and what better space than as an assistant to the Midwives of NJ to learn all the things this could entail.
In addition to birth support, Elizabeth is a member of the NJ Doula Learning Collaborative and she does all she can to help bridge the gap between the medical system and those providing assistance to birthers in NJ.
