Kaitlyn’s journey started when being taught her first obstetrics course in nursing school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH from a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). This coursework was followed after graduation in 2008 by practical experiences as a labor and delivery nurse at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ and as a home health nurse for high-risk pregnancies. Knowing midwifery was the next step, Kaitlyn has been involved with Midwives of New Jersey since her student coursework at UMDNJ which culminated with her graduating with a dual master’s degree in Midwifery and women’s health in 2013. After which she accepted a full-time role as a Midwife with MNJ, working at the hospital, Our Birthing Center, and in client’s homes for the next 10 years.
Most recently, Kaitlyn has been providing well-woman GYN services at MNJ. She is very passionate about providing care in a respectful way, including each woman in the technique and outcomes of their exam. Education and shared decision-making are core values that she hopes to share with each person while focusing on healthy lifestyle and aging practices.
Kaitlyn and her husband Steven of 17 years have 4 children: Owen, Kara, Ally, and Ella. One of the best teaching experiences that Kaitlyn has ever had as a Midwife has been her own journey with pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. “I conceived when and who I did, not only because it was right for my family, but it was right for my growth as a midwife.” Kaitlyn loves to travel with her family, try new craft beers, exercise, and try almost any do-it-yourself project!
Kaitlyn believes strongly in supporting a woman’s choice and her involvement in her own care. This allows each woman to feel empowered about her abilities to maintain her health and the health of people for whom she cares about.
Speak tenderly to them. Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the
warmth of our greeting. Always have a cheerful smile. Don’t only give your care, but give your
heart as well. -Mother Teresa
