A new recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics is Iodine supplementation in pregnancy (see first link below). It is not surprising that poor diets result in less than ideal outcomes for children. I think we need to heed Dr. Mercola’s advice (see second link below) though, and ensure that Iodine intake is through diet to include vegetables and bromine-free baked goods. Taking supplements may not have the same healthy effects of diet rich in nutritious, unadulterated foods.
