At the Midwives of New Jersey, we strive to provide comprehensive, gynecologic care across a woman’s lifespan. This means an individualized plan is made for each client and is adapted as she moves through the different stages of her life.
Here are 3 Ways Our Gynecological Care is Holistic:
1. We spend time with you.
We believe in the importance of the therapeutic encounter. True healthcare begins with your relationship with your provider and relationships take time. We take the time to get to know you and address your concerns. A typical gynecology visit at the Midwives of New Jersey lasts about 45 minutes. We encourage women to see us every year to keep accurate health records and further your relationship with our providers.
2. We do so much more than a PAP smear!
Keeping your whole body and mind healthy is a large part of keeping your reproductive system healthy. We take time to discuss your life as it relates to your health. Things like your diet, exercise routine, stress level, supplements, sex life, menstrual cycle, your headaches, your births, your mom, your kids, your vacation, etc! And then offer both mainstream and alternative remedies as well as a sounding board for your concerns. By the time we actually do the physical, your anxiety should be low which makes the exam much easier. We strive to make a pelvic exam as comfortable as possible and there are NO STIRRUPS in our office!
3. We prefer to promote breast health not just screen for breast disease.
We teach breast self-exams, encourage our clients to avoid unnecessary estrogen exposure, work to decrease inflammation and recommend supplements that support breast health.
Besides an annual exam, you can be seen for a problem visit related to any women’s health concern including menstrual irregularities, PMS, vaginal infections, natural fertility care, abdominal pain, family planning, adrenal fatigue or thyroid conditions.
