Hackettstown Regional Medical Center Closes its Obstetric Unit

Hackettstown Regional Medical Center closed its Obstetric unit on 651 Willow Grove Road in Hackettstown, NJ after more than 40 years of operation. I think that is unfortunate for the people in Hackettstown and the surrounding areas because the nearest Labor and Delivery Units are Newton Medical Center, Hunterdon Medical Center, Saint Clare’s Health System and our hospital, Morristown Medical Center. All of these options are at least 30 minutes away from Hackettstown/Warren County residents.

The Hackettstown Regional Medical Center Maternity unit closed though because of under-utilization. Which indicates that women were already driving to these more distant facilities for Maternity care.

Maternity Care Options For Pregnant Women in Warren County

The Midwives of New Jersey have had an office in Hackettstown for the past 6 years for prenatal care as well as GYN care but our births happen at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown NJ or in our clients’ homes. So women in Warren county and further west can receive their prenatal care closer to home and make the longer drive for their birth. Or of course, they sometimes save the trip all together by planning a birth at their home. Let the Midwives drive in the snow and the rush hour traffic while the mother relaxes in a birth tub supplied by The Midwives of New Jersey!

Warren County Women Can Still Receive Excellent Maternity Care

We have opened an office in Madison, New Jersey that makes the distance even less concerning. If a woman would be more comfortable closer to the Morristown Medical Center but does not wish to be admitted too early, we can meet her in our Madison location and she can labor until labor has progressed sufficiently for admission. This is an offering unique to our practice – we aspire to provide individualized care to each of our clients.

So excellent care can still be had for Warren county residents and The Midwives of New Jersey are a practice that continues to provide it!
